Video Catch-Up: Top gym video from the past 3 weeks, Part 3.

Gabby, Jordyn, and McKayla discuss how they started gymnastics. Big shocker-McKayla was a crazy kid!

Warning: Not for the faint-hearted, but here’s a video showing McKayla and Aly’s back-to-back injuries while on tour (at 1:16 and 1:55). So glad that Aly’s ok and wishing Maroney a speedy recovery.

Interview with Gabby Douglas, where she talks about what her Olympic experience was like. She discussed overcoming mistakes, having courage, and enjoying the spotlight. She seems like she has such a good head on her shoulders, I bet she’s such a role model for those little Iowa sisters of hers.

Some Shawn on DWTS videos. Here’s a rehearsal/interview and her first dance. She seems so much more grown up to me lately. Hope Shawn’s wish comes true and we see Miss Maroney as the next gymnast on the show!

Jake Dalton and Danell Leyva on their Olympic apartments. That must have been horrible to have a flood in the room!

LOVE this video. Aly Raisman gives a tour of the Kellogg’s bus and you really get to see the girl’s personalities. Funniest thing ever-”Um, NO! How come you’re speaking the most!?”-McKayla.

Video Catch-Up: Top gym video from the past 2 weeks, Part 2.

Part 2 of 3 video posts that’ll be up this week:

Jordyn and Aly made an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael. I’m impressed at Michael’s balance beam skills for a big former football player!

On September 3rd, Gabby, McKayla, and Kyla threw out the first pitches at the LA Dodgers game. Nice arm on Miss Maroney…no wonder she gets so much block on her Amanar.

Some Kellogg’s Tour videos have been popping up online. Here’s a time lapse of rehearsal from USAgym, a news video from the Ontario show including interviews with Gabby and Nastia Liukin, and a bunch of videos from the performances:

Kyla, Gabby, and McKayla got a chance to be on Ellen’s season 10 premiere show. Here’s a behind the scenes look at the show, video of the girls surprising pink, and the always adorable Sophia Grace and Rosie interviewing the Fierce 5 on the red carpet (at 0:25). Love how Pink is such a gymnastics fangirl!

Lastly, Gabby spoke at an event with the Citi Fields Kids Program. She talked about wanting to quit, sacrificing for your dreams, and never giving up. Her part starts at about 1:50-

Video Catch-Up: Top gym video from the past 2 weeks, Part 1.

Catching up on the top gym video from the past few weeks! This is Part 1 of 3:

Aly Raisman met with fans and signed autographs at the American Girl Place in NYC. Aly says she plans on starting college next year. She also shares that the Fierce 5 use group messaging to keep in touch.

A US Weekly interview with the Fierce 5. They talked about which sports they most enjoyed watching at the Olympics, meeting Kate Middleton, hanging out with first lady Michelle Obama, and their newfound fame. Love how they thought people were really being stabbed with javelins, too funny.

Kyla, McKayla, and Gabby did a long interview with KTLA news channel in Los Angeles. They talked about Gabby’s bullying, McKayla’s silver medal face, and Kyla being one of the youngest US Olympians. They’re adorable looking at the pictures from the games. Also loved this moment-Interviewer: “You look tired”. McKayla: “That’s not very nice!”.

Jordyn and Aly signed a leotard for Lola, Kelly Ripa’s daughter.

Interview clip with McKayla and Gabby. They don’t seem too keen on being on a reality TV show, but gym fans would LOVE that! McKayla does share that she wants to be an actress.

McKayla, Kyla, and Gabby were caught on Dance Cam at the Dodgers game. Hilarious!

Had to include this just because it’s awesome. Carly Janiga, a former elite gymnast who also competed NCAA for Stanford, did a Gaylord 2 on bars in 2004. So crazy! Check it out at 0:48-

Gymnastike posted a video from after Trials with McKayla Maroney. She talks about her relationship with all of her teammates. I can definitely see Aly as the messy one and Jordyn as the one who keeps them in line. It seems like this group of girls is closer than past teams have been and you could see that solidarity during the Olympic games.

That’s all for now. Parts 2 and 3 will be up later this week!

Fierce 5 at the VMA’s: Video and Photos from the big event.

Access Hollywood was with the girls as they got ready for the VMA’s. They showed the gymnasts meeting the stars of Teen Wolf, One Direction, and Miley Cirus:

The Fierce Five took to the Red Carpet and posed for paparazzi. They all looked gorgeous. I wonder if they’re used to the crazy attention yet:

John Orozco on the Red Carpet. He’s adorable, he looks so nervous!

Gabby did gymnastics during Alicia Keys’ performance. Must have been such an amazing moment for her:

After the show, the Fierce Five met Taylor Swift. They got to chat with the superstar for quite a while and of course take some pictures:

The girls took a bunch the photos of the event and shared them on Instagram. It must be so surreal that their favorite celebrities are excited to meet them!

Weekend video wrap-up: Aly’s parade and Red Sox appearance, Danell interview, Fierce 5 montage, Gabby on Oprah

  • Aly Raisman was welcomed home to Needham, MA in a yellow Lamborghini. They called the event “Rally for Aly”.  Looks like a ton of people showed up for the celebration!

  • Aly also threw out the first pitch at the Red Sox game on August 25. She did an interview with “Red Sox First Pitch” and talks about her life since the Olympics, denting one of her Gold medals, and her hysterical parents being recognized in public before her.

  • Danell Leyva did an interview and Q&A session with Univision. He talks about his parents, eating habits, and his Olympic experience in the 1st video. The 2nd video is a rapid fire Q&A with lots of favorites from Danell.

  • This video just cracked me up. It’s some goofy guy doing a Fierce 5 parody to One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful”. Impressive how many views it has!

  • The one and only ILITTER, aka Chris Saccullo, made an amazing montage for the Team USA women to “Wild Ones”. Love.

  • Finally, most of you have probably seen this by now, but if not here’s the controversial “Oprah’s Next Chapter” interview from Gabby.  The segment focuses on racism and Gabby’s journey. Lots of footage of mama Douglas and of her Iowa host family that housed her as she trained at Chow’s these past two years.

Gabby’s bullying accusations on Oprah: Those involved with Excalibur respond.

If you missed it, here’s Gabby’s appearance on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” from August 26th. The interview touched on Gabby’s feelings of isolation and bullying while at Excalibur’s gym in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She said, “I felt I was being bullied” and “I definitely felt isolated. I felt, ‘Why am I deserving this? Is it because I’m black?’”. She also described an incident where the other girls said, “Why doesn’t Gabby do it? She’s our slave” when they needed someone to scrape chalk off the bars.

It’s impossible to know for sure what went on behind the walls of the gym, but those at Excalibur say Gabby is lying. Randy Stageburg (female) is a former Senior International Elite and National Team member. She had this to say about Gabby’s comments and her former gym:

This is absolutely ridiculous. I trained at Excalibur gymnastics for 8 years and I personally trained with gabby for 2 of those years. The accusations that are being made against the gymnasts and coaches are just sickening. I watched dena and Gustavo put so much of their time and effort into gabby and the other athletes, no matter their race. Gabby was never a victim, in fact many would say she was one of the favorites. I am not saying that she never felt bullied because when you are in a sport with a bunch of girls it is bond to happen. However, anything that she may have felt was never about race and I can assure you everyone at some point has felt bullied. I never once heard her complain about girls being mean, funny how it is just now coming up. Also, not only does she owe the gym thousands of dollars but she owes dena thousands as well. I watched dena open her home to gabby, feeding her, taking her to gym, and allowing her to stay over her house whenever gabby wanted to. You take people like dena and Gustavo, people that are selfless and put so much into helping these gymnasts reach their potential and you make them out to be evil and heartless. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Unless you were there to witness these so called racial acts against gabby I suggest you take your comments elsewhere because you sound ignorant. Girls leave gyms all the time it is just part of being an athlete but there is absolutely no need to publicly bash people that have done nothing but support you and do the best they can to help you reach your dreams. I also trained with Morgan Evans, Marcia Newby, Britney Ranzy and Sheriese Clark all of which were on the national team and are African American. I can assure you they all have nothing but great things to say about their experience at Excalibur.

Gustavo Moure, President and CEO of Excalibur, had this to say:

From the bottom of my heart
We have, indeed, provided an environment where all our gymnasts can thrive. Gabby’s remarks were hurtful and without merit.
We’ve had more African Americans in elite and on the national team than any other gym in the country (5, 2 of them in Olympic Trials or Olympic Team Camp). Her African American former teammates will answer this serious accusation. (1st statement untruth, she was not the only African American gymnast training in the gym) We are good people. We never were knowingly involved in any type of bullying or racist treatment, like she is accusing Excalibur.

Do you know Gabby and her mother to know certainly how much you can trust them? Mrs. Hawkins expressed (in the media) different causes for Gabby to leave Excalibur during the last 2 years, the bullying/racial issue seems to be her latest attempt and making Excalibur look back. If Gabby was suffering from bullying, why didn’t Mrs. Hawkins ever mention it while Gabby was training here or complain after she left Excalibur? I wish to defend the children that trained with her and supported her when she attacks them with these allegations. Is Gabrielle a credible person just because she is an Olympic Champion? She is not giving any names or dates, leading us to believe that the accusation is fake. This wouldn’t be the first time that the media has made up a story.

*Update. Here’s Excalibur Gymnastics’ response on two local news channels:
